When i visit a city, a state or a country, I don’t leave unless i see all its highlights and even more sometimes. I had no plans to invade Uttar Pradesh state where Taj Mahal is existed, but it’s not reasonable to make such a tour in India and miss such a site specially when it’s only few hours away from Delhi !! So i decided to visit only Agra, although Uttar Pradesh is very big and has alot of famous, touristic and important cities like Lucknow, Varanasi and Allahabad.
Second day in New Delhi – early morning, driving to Agra. We left New Delhi early morning to have more time in Agra and avoid sleeping over there for a night since there are some important sites to visit beside Taj Mahal. First, we visited Sikandara Fort, Akbar’s Tomb, which was on the way to Agra. A magnificent palace with an amazing architecture and an amazing gardens that contains hundreds of free Ghazals running around. After our first hit, Sikandra Fort, we headed to Agra Fort which is a UNESCO world heritage site and it was just another HIT. Then we passed by Chini-ka-Rauza and Itimad-ud-Daulah, the baby Taj, which are also magnificent tombs.
We saved Taj Mahal for last. It is also a UNESCO world site heritage. As much as they said and as much as i saw it on TV and in pictures, in real it is so much different. I can find no word to express how magical and beautiful it is. It’s not only about its beauty architect but also its reputation. The first thing crossed my mind when i first saw it, was the 1 thousand nights and a night fairy tales. I will dedicate for Taj Mahal and Agra Fort a full post each.
One loss, although we left early morning but we couldn’t visit Fatehpur Sikri, the city of victory, which is half an hour away from Taj Mahal. Fatehpur sikri is also a UNESCO world heritage site. Other than that, it was a full succes with 3 hits. Oh yeah, another loss was that i had to pay forigner entry fees which is 750 rupees when i used to pay locals entry fees which is 15 rupees !! all because the FREE guide who did not allow us. Instead of paying 30 rupees to enter Taj and Agra Fort i paid 1500 rupees !!
That was all for Agra. Wait for Agra Fort and Taj Mahal post.
