Day 3, Sonamarg – Nishat and Shalimar Gardens – Hazratbal Shrine, the day after we are leaving to Jammu by plane certainly then we are taking a bus to Darmashalah. I heard a lot about Kashmir’s beauty and i saw that beauty and more. Since i started this trip i was looking forward the day i reach Kashmir. I certainly going there again with a better camera this time and same friend.
Sonamarg was the morning plan. Our big plan was to visit Leh after Srinagar, which is the third biggest city in Jammu and Kashmir and #1 most beautiful touristic city. The way from Srinagar to Leh passes through Sonamarg and Kargil, where the armed dispute between Pakistan and India took place in 1999. It is still tensed in Kargil as it’s the borded which separates both disputed countries. But unfortunately we could not reach Leh because the road was closed due to seasonal snow and needs 3 days more to be cleared. We already saw 80% and we were covering the rest on the afternoon plan so staying 3 more days was a waste of time so we decided to leave some beautiful stuff for the next trip. Thank God the road to Sonamarg was clear at least. We drove in a 1 lane streets with maybe 3 to 4 meters of ice on both sides.
The afternoon part of the plan was to complete Srinagar sight seeing. We did not dedicate a full day to Srinagar, we did Srinagar sight seeing on 4 parts. On that after noon we did visit Nishat and Shalimar Gardens, which is to me they are the most beautiful gardens of Kashmir’s Mughal Gardens. Specialy before sunset time, when the sun is a bit down. And we visited the Hazratbal Shrine too by Maghrib prayer time but unfortunately by then my camera ran out of battery. It was very charming and peaceful, staying there by the lakeside enjoying its quietness after a hectic day was priceless.
