27 hours trip ! It was a record to me. I have never did a trip this long. We could have taken a plane but we needed it. First and most important we needed it to get some rest after being on the run for almost 10 days, second for the experience and third i wanted to enjoy the sceneries on the way to New Delhi. Driving 2000 km from Cochin to Hyderabad then 1600 km in a train from Hyderabad to Delhi, all that in 9 hectic days.
Delhi, the capital of India, it was like any of those densed capitals, very crowded and polluted. Didn’t fell in love with it or even likes it, specially after a 27 hours train trip and a taxi who were trying to convince us with a hotel list of his own. It took us sometime finding a hotel. We checked in, quick shower and on the road again. Again another problem with the taxi driver who wanted to do us a tour in New Delhi when we have our own list to cover. Anyway, the tour was done, the items per the list were covered and the objectives were met.
Delhi has 3 Magnificent world site heritage which are Humayun’s Tomb, Qutb Minar and its Monuments and Red Fort Complex. We did visit the 1st two of them but unfortunately we were not able to visit the Red Fort Complex because it was under maintenance. Also we’ve been to the Baha’i House of Worship, Lotus Temple, and -i Jahan-Numa ( Jama Masjid ), the biggest in India.
Delhi is a metropolitan city with a13 million inhabitants. The first settlement in Delhi was at least 600 BC with the remains of 7 major cities which have been discovered in Delhi and around. After the the tour and all what i saw i started to change my mind a little bit about Delhi. One day was enough to go all arround Delhi’s main attractions and we had even sometime to walk around the down town. We stayed one more night in Delhi to visit Agra which it was a 4 hoursdrive from Delhi. That was for Delhi, check the pictures and wait for AGRA post.
