4 hours journey in a good quality private bus to Shimla, EX-India’s capital. Shimla was supposed to be our last destination before ( Delhi – Kuwait ) but we couldn’t find any direct flights to Delhi. The Other option was to visit Chandigarh, Punjab & Haryana, which is only 2 hours by bus from Shimla and fly to Delhi from there. One more day was not a problem at all, at least to me. And we extended our stay for one more day in Chandigarh.
Shimla, Green Himalayas, i haven’t seen a place greener than Shimla. It has a very strong British Vibe. If you walk around its streets, specially the mall road, you would think your in london. Unfortunately my camera ran out of battery so i could not take That much of pistures. There was nothing much to do in the downtown but walking around the shops and the old Bazar’s. Other than that we took a half day tour, where they took us to some beautiful view points. The tour had included horse back riding which was not bad. We were back by evening and went directly to the bus station to book early morning bus tickets to Candigarh. I loved shimla and its theme.
The day we reached Chandigarh was my last day with my friend. After Chandigarh he left to Bombay where he lives and i left to Delhi to get a flight back home. Chandigarh is a newly built city, you can tell by the very wide streets and the blocks design. In 1947, India/Pakistan war, the Punjab region was split between Pakistan and India. Lahore, Capital of Punjab, was in the Pakistani Part after the split, Here comes the need to build a new capital for the Indian part of Punjab. In 1953 Chandigarh were found. Designed by the French architect and urban planner, Le Corbusier.
